COVID Summer Recovery - Week 3: Have You Been Taking Care of Yourself?

What is Self-Care?

  • Well, it’s taking care of yourself! We’ve all heard the airplane-oxygen mask analogy and it’s so true. But to think of it in a way that is not so scary, let’s picture your car. If you’ve been driving around and forget to put gas in it, it’s eventually going to stop – and it’s going to be at a time you don’t want it to happen. Or you’re going to be extra stressed as you squeeze that in between all of the other things you have to do!

Why Practice Self-Care?

  1. when we take care of ourselves it’s easier to take care of our kids

  2. models and teaches our kids how to care for themselves which promotes emotional regulation and self-esteem

  3. we tend to enjoy others when we feel good about ourselves

  4. it feels good!!
